The Department of Education Needs To Go

The Department of Education (DoE) has failed in its mission to improve our schools. Since its creation in 1979, testing scores have not only failed to improve but have dramatically slipped as well. It appears that the DoE's focus is more on protecting and funding the Teachers Union rather than prioritizing the needs of the students. The money certainly isn't going to the classrooms. For if that were true, teachers wouldn't have to buy school supplies for their classrooms out of their own pockets or beg for donations from parents.

Were you aware that only 25% of the DoE's $300B yearly budget actually goes to education? Astonishing. The remainder of that money somehow finds its way into the pockets of bureaucrats and the DNC. That certainly doesn't help our kids!

But, back to the issue of the DoE and the Teachers Union. The Teachers Union, backed by the DoE, protects bad teachers and advances them over good teachers based on seniority rather than on merit. This is the very reason why so many good teachers become disheartened and frustrated, leaving the teaching profession for greener pastures elsewhere. In the end, what we are left with is the bad teachers. The bottom of the barrel, so to speak. This certainly helps to explain all the Leftist nutjob and sexually perverted teachers we see being exposed on social media every day.

In its entire 46-year history, the DoE has provided no solid benefits to the nation and in reality, has only been a giant money suck. We don't actually need the DoE, and most likely our public school system may actually improve once it's gone. It certainly couldn't get any worse than what the DoE has made it.

The DoE is also a prime example of Constitutional Federal government overreach. The US Constitution clearly states that it is an enumerated list of powers granted to the POTUS and the Federal Government, and only those powers. That the powers not expressly granted to them fall to the States, and ultimately the people. This is most clearly expressed in the 10th Amendment:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The power to control education is not granted to the Federal government in our Constitution, nor in any founding documents or Laws. Eliminating the DoE aligns with the 10th Amendment and the original intent of our founders. Maybe we could use the building as a giant Chuck-E-Cheese for the kids. #AbolishTheDoE
